Dr Alban de Vaucorbeil is a research fellow at Monash University working on the simulation of abrasive wear. He is both a mechanical and materials engineer whose expertise lies in simulations of structures and materials from atomistic to macroscopic scales submitted to both quasistatic and dynamic loadings. Alban has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie, in France, a Master’s degree in mechanical and materials engineering from the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Cachan, France. In 2016, he received his PhD in materials engineering from the University of British Columbia after which he spent some time in the industry working in the Colombian Navy’s shipyard for a little more than a year.
